Maybe this should go in the Trading Post, but I want to target you, uh, older guys, that might just have a half dozen .30 Rem pieces of brass tucked away in a drawer that you're never gonna use.

We've got this old Model 81 that we're cleaning up to sell. But, the owner doesn't want to sell it unless we're confident it's a shooter, -fully functional. Feeds, fires, ejects, feeds again, fires. To fully test a repeater it's nice to have a full magazine to experience the Blam, Blam, Blam, effect. Now, it appears that we only have ONE cartridge now that I've ruined the other.:uhoh: Using a .30cal neck sizing die then a 30-30 die to seat/crimp. And.. Not the right shell holder.. The list of challenges go on.

So, this is a plea for assistance. Does anyone have some .30 Remington brass they're willing to part with for a song and a dance? :D A buck a piece, plus postage?

-Steve

I am uncertain of the case length, but couldn't you use some 6.8 SPC brass to form into a short-necked 30 Rem?

The neck would be really short, but it could work for a function test.

I bet some 6.8 SPC might work for a function test. Unfortunately I don't have any of that either.

I'll call Graf's tomorrow. All I want is 10. Their web site shows the smallest amount to purchase is 100 for $29.

Most people buying the model 81's are collectors. I doubt we'll be able to recoupe the price for a hundred rounds of brass.

Just trying to turn this thing to fund a project. Still we want to be sure it's safe and functional.

Jack:

PM me your mailing address and I will send you 6 pcs. of .30 Remington brass for $5 total (including postage). Gotta help a brother out! :)
