It's like a 30 Carbine Improved.

I'd say the #1 benefit is lower muzzle blast than 5.56. But it really is almost everything good about the M1 carbine, but put in an AR platform.

If I'm ever relegated to shooting only indoors I'll get one, but I like the 5.56 better for outdoor steel plates and for hunting I'd prefer a 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel.

It's great to have such good options for the AR platform.

I'm not sure that the accuracy and range make it suitable for coyotes, but if you can call them in within 100 yards it will do the job.

I think it is plenty accurate enough and with full house loads and 110 grain bullets, a 16" AR can be a sub moa shooter easily taking song dogs out to 200 yards.

it allows the use of cheaper cast bullets if you reload. with the heavy bullets you can cycle the action, without horrible leading. Or you can use jacketed bullets and get something a little better than a 30 carbine. I mean that in a good way
Will have to cast yourself! No suitable commercial cast bullets that I can find.

It doesn't do anything that other rounds don't do better but you can't have one of everything without one.

Both Missouri Bullet and Lucky13 sell powder coated lead projectiles.
The blunt head bullets they sell won't feed well in AR, the M1 Carbine bullet profile maybe too wide and interfere with ribs on AR mag. Lucky13's 30 Cal Zombie13 looks promising, do they feed well in AR? and fit in AR mag? Anyone tried them? what is your experience?

FWIW, I've put maybe 300 of the Missouri Bullets 240's through a couple of ARs w/o any problems.

With 125's or 155's, you can get another 100 yards out of it. I don't hunt, but I've shot steel silhouettes at 300 yards with mine, using 155 Palmas. Enough juice at that range to knock down the steel pigs. Ought to do in a Yote that far.
