It's like a 30 Carbine Improved.
I'd say the #1 benefit is lower muzzle blast than 5.56. But it really is almost everything good about the M1 carbine, but put in an AR platform.
If I'm ever relegated to shooting only indoors I'll get one, but I like the 5.56 better for outdoor steel plates and for hunting I'd prefer a 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel.
