.303 Enfield shooters, if you're looking for cheap ammo, I've found some!

Though it's from Dirtier Than Dirt...

I have to look into it too.

What's this mean:

"Save Money On Shipping!
Each independent partner warehouse competes for your business. Save on shipping by ordering from one partner warehouse!"

I had a less than satisfactory experience with CTD some years ago and have avoided them since, but I decided to give them a try - 450 rounds of decent .303 British milsurp for $177.39 isn't bad, even when you figure in shipping and sales tax. (CTD is in TX, so Texans get nicked for the tax.) The stuff I ordered is on Enfield type stripper clips - worth at least a buck apiece these days at your typical gun show (I've seen them at 2 for $5) - so that brings down the cost per round considerably.

Ordered it Monday evening, received it today. (Wednesday.) Just opened the box and it looks like typical milsurp that was probably originally packed in bulk or bandoleers and repacked somewhere along the line. Headstamp is HXP 76. The ammo has a little tarnish, but a quick spot check revealed no visible corrosion, water spots, or verdigris - in my experience, it looks pretty decent for milsurp. The product description says the bullets have a steel core, but my magnet does not stick to either the case or the bullet. The only negative thing I noticed is that the rims are not all "stacked" properly in the clips, so if you use them to load your Enfield, you'll probably want to repack the clip yourself.

Giving it a qualified "thumbs up" since I haven't actually fired it yet, but having some experience with HXP .30/06 I bought from the CMP (a magnet does stick to those bullets) I'm not expecting any problems.

My first order came in today. 1 case of .303 on strippers and a case of 440 30-06. All ammo in "A" marked boxes. Nicely packaged and no corroded rounds found. All the .303 was '76 and the clips were black and looked good as new. The 30-06 was '67 and in the properly labeled boxes.

Now to see what the second case of 480 brings.

Got mine at a gunshow a while back. It was the Privi Partisan stuff, not great, not too bad either.

That stuff looks like the deal of the year!

I paid a lot for my ammo and $177 plus shipping would be amazing.

I would not buy from CTD if they were the last place left to get ammo on earth.
Ditto. I wouldn't buy from those crooks if it was a penny per round. Never saw a less ethical business in my life :cuss:
Thank you for the heads-up and looking out for your fellow shooters but like the others, I refuse to spend one red cent with that company. I would rather do without than buy from them and have not since Clinton was president when they first screwed their customers. (first time I was aware of at least)

Carolina Kalash, thanks again for sharing the information...

The case that I ordered Sunday came yesterday. Like HankB, I inspected all of the ammo and it looks good. A few very minor tarnish marks, but no concerns. As he mentioned, I will reload the chargers properly before using them to load my magazines, but that is a small issue.

At this price, for target work, they're hard to beat and I will probably order more. If we don't start seeing more .311 or .312 bullets soon it may be all we have for awhile.

BTW, I'm no fan of CTD either, but I am a pragmatist and I can live with that.

While I was doing other work at the bench today, I removed the ammo from the chargers and ran them, 50 at a time, thru a 30minute cycle in the vibratory case cleaners.

All of mine is 1976 with the green annulus and all of the chargers are "BP"-marked post-war-style Mk4s.

A tiny amount of the ammo sported a bit of charger rash/tarnish.

Beautiful ammo ... and the chargers aren't bad, either. ;)

Got mine yesterday. Cursory inspection revealed one clip with rust/tarnished brass that I felt had to be tossed. The rest looks great. It is all HXP 76.

Some of it is not stacked in the clip properly so I think I will do as others have done and tumble the rounds.....while I am at it I will spray the clips with some Hornady One Shot dry lube to prevent future corrosion.

Either CTD bought a gigantic quantity, or plenty of Enfield etc owners will never buy any more items from them (or already stocked up)?

Can't believe that they still show it available.

The most unique aspect Appears to be that it came directly From Greece, being among countries which seem to be complying with the UN Small Arms Agreement. Is this the most probable situation?

Some claim that much of the tarnish is from the major brush or forest fires which burned in that area of Greece a few years ago,

it's been probably 5 years ago now, I came across somebody selling HXP in bulk, they had 2, wood crates of the stuff, each crate had two 300 round spam cans, all in bandoleers and stripper clips. they were also selling about 300 rounds of very nice quality remington and PMP brand soft points for hunting, I picked up all 1500 rounds for $200. let me know when you find one of those kind of deals online :D
