I just bought a 1918 enfield no1 parts gun, it does not have any matching numbers, and is my 9th 303. it has the ati synthetic stock on it, but in great cond. I want to scope it, but do not like the no smithing mounts. I want to drill and tap it, and make it my deer rifle, as it is rather accurate. I was just wondering if anyone could give me an I dea of what mount to use. the top of the reciver is flat.
only gave $75 for the rifle, the stock is worth that.

Weaver used to make a scope base for that rifle, TO1 I think was the number. Took three holes in the action to attach and used tip off rings. Not the best setup but it worked. Good luck on finding one, don't think they are produced any more.

thanks for all the info, I am going to let my local gunsmith do the work as I do not know enough about it to do so. I also do not have the tools, and want it done right. he is only going to charge me $35 that includes the mount. I can live with that.

Check the headspace before you do anything. Thousands of Lee-Enfields were assembled out of parts bins with zero QC and are unsafe to shoot. Especially No. 1's.
Your smithy will need to know how to mount any base. One screw goes into the charger guide on most bases. None of 'em are great though.
Have a look at the first Advance Technology one.

E-Bay is owned by the people who want to take your firearms away from you. Buying or selling anything there funds the likes if the Brady Bunch.
