I need to get glass on a 308. The two I'm trying to decide on is Falcon menace 4-14x44 (maybe IR) or SWFA SS 3-15x42.
Does anybody own either and what you feel about it

I have a barska on it right now. I want to switch from just shooting in stationary positions to the shower competitions.

Of you're wanting to compete with it, I'd say the SWFA would be your baseline. You're probably going to be pushing its limits at times. From what I've heard about them, though, it's serviceable.

Tim,

Isn't that a second focal plane scope? I'm sure it's a good scope, but I'd recommend a FFP scope if he's going to be doing competitions. It's much faster than dialing to full magnification each time.

Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP mil/mil. A nice piece of glass for the money. I have it on my Savage 10 FCP HS-Precision and an completely satisfied with it.

skip the falcon. the swfa SS will serve you well. i have their fixed 10x on a .22 and also use it to test other rifles. good glass, durable, and tracks perfectly. i also have the vortex viper pst 4-16x ffp that others have mentioned and this is also a great buy. also great glass for the money and a warranty second to none. i'd have to compare them side by side to say whether it's worth the extra $200, but either way, you can't go wrong. it could come down to which reticle you like better.
