.32 H&R Magnum is more than THEY are telling you

If you're shooting in a .327 and only a .327 I would load some .32 Mag cases above the max with published data. I shoot .45 ACP in a Ruger Redhawk and I'm using standard ACP cases and loading them near .45 Super territory. Kind of have to load them hot to get any decent velocity as the long chamber saps gas pressure, but I personally load .38 cases over published +P data for use in .357 revolvers because I have a lot more .38 brass than .357 and also because the brass can handle it.

The biggest thing is not allowing hot .38 or .32 Mag ammo to be shot in a .38 or .32 Mag revolver, they're meant for .327/.357 Magnum guns only.

Now that you mention I remember loading up 50 rds of .32 mag 100 gr with 3.3-3.5 gr of 700x.

It's in my "to test" bag and I haven't fired / chronographed it yet. I don't have any other .32 revolvers except the .327's. I marked ".32 mag +P" on the bag along with the rest of the load info. Best I could do.

I suppose if I had guns that couldn't handle it I might put a line across the case head with a red marker or paint pen.

My +p or a little more .38 special loads are all in .357 brass. I don't own any .38's.

If I ever decide to load some really light loads for my .357 I'll put them in .38 Colt (aka Special Short) cases.

o_O There's nothing "+P" or "hot" about 3.5 grains of 700-X and a 100 grain bullet in .32 H&R Magnum. Hodgdon Data Center shows that load at 20,200 CUP. That's under the working pressure limit. Do you use a reloading manual?

My Lee says 3.0 gr under a 90 gr lead bullet.
3.5 gr under a jacketed bullet.
It has no 100 gr lead data.

So, I made my best guess that 3.5 gr under the 100 gr bullet would not be dangerous and found at least one comprehensive test online a guy did and he had no problems.

My revolver is a 4" barrel S&W 631 in .32 H&R Mag. I have tried the Loads Brian Pearce posted in Hanfloader as mentioned above. He says they are for Rugers only but they work fine in My J Frame - no sticking cases, no flattened primers. Those loads perk up the H&R cartridge. I will not shoot them without ear protection. Truthfully, they cured any interest I had in the .327.

I really enjoy my Taurus M76 in .32H&R.
It everything I ever imagined it would be. I’ve wanted a .32H&R since the early 80’s but couldn’t justify the expense. Hard to find too.
Now, I won’t/don’t need to cough up the $1500 to own a Model 16 S&W.
I find the .32 S&W Longs and .32H&R to adequately fill any handgun power I need.
I’m becoming a huge fan of the .30SC as it’s .32H&R power in a semi auto handgun...
I have a Ruger Single 7 for the .327mag if I so desire. It’s also proven accurate enough with .32swl w/90gr LSWC for shooting squirrels!
A squirrel shooter with magnum power potential! What more can you ask!

I can't say I've lost interest in .327, but I get why you might. The .327 is still a long and very strong case that it can be stuffed with a 125gr bullet and launch it at a fast enough velocity to be useful while .32 Mag I pretty much keep to 100 grains for a projectile.

The .32 Mag to me is a self defense against man handgun cartridge, the .327 is the outdoors cartridge. The .32 S&W are for plinking and special use.

I shoot them all, I'm a .32 addict, but when shooting the .327 I've pretty much gone back to two loads: 100gr XTP with AA#9 and 115gr lead with Unique. If Speer would get off their rear and make the half jacket, half LRN 100 grain .30 Carbine bullets again I'd buy up a ton of them to test in the .327 with an undersize sizing die to increase the neck tension. The few I tried with almost no neck tension worked just fine and they're such a cheap jacketed bullet that they're perfect for the .327
