Help me out guys...

350 legend with 16” bear creek upper. 1-16 twist. Heavier or lighter bullet? Used for deer hunting 100-150 yards shots max.

Handloading or buying ammo?

1:16 twist in that caliber should stabilize like 225 grains or so, but the case capacity will work best with 180 grain bullets.

Factory. Buddy has an upper coming tomorrow. Trying to find ammo for it. I like heavier bullets but the smaller barrel makes me think a lighter bullet for stability and speed.

Stability will not be an issue. My 357 maximum is a 13" 1:20 twist and shoots 180 grain XTP's and 180 grain speer hot cores 1 moa. I would not personally use anything less than a 180 grain. That's already a pretty stumpy bullet and there is no point to going lighter.

Well out of my buddies Bear creek armory upper the 180gr SP printed 1-1.5'' at 100yards for 3 shots. He tried the FMJ and they printed even better but for a $300 upper and a deer rifle it will work just fine.
