350 legend vs 300 blk out for deer

Honestly jonnyc I don't know what you think is wrong with those posts. I think it's valid to point out that the .350 legend was designed for straight-walled only states. I can't say for certain that I'd be using a 350 if I wasn't in Ohio and limited to just a couple options for an AR. I might have something like a 6.8 spc instead if I could.

OP, something I don't think has been mentioned is reliability. Some cartridge/gun/magazine combinations don't work well in 350 legend and in general a long straight walled cartridge has the potential to suffer more with feeding issues over a bottle-necked cartridge in a semi-automatic. The various forums are full of different AR's in 350 that people have purchased and struggled to work well, or don't work with specific bullets/loads, or they've had to do surgury on their .350 legend magazines to get reliable feeding. So personally I'd wouldn't go bare bottom budget like a BCA and would instead get something like a CMMG. Even then, my CMMG doesn't like HSM 170g Spire Point, but has cycled every Winchester load from the 145g FMJ, the 150g XP and copper, and the 180g power point (which is what I settled on using).

I’m at a loss as to what you could possibly be referencing. This thread has been remarkably close to topic for the OP’s question.

He was pointing out that not everyone always reads every post in a given thread and sometimes information get repeated.

Guilty of this myself at times...

I have used the 300 on a lot of pigs, was never that happy with it before the 110gn Barnes tac tx bullet was suggested to me.

I haven't hunted with 300bo, I have
with 350L. 350L would definitely be my choice for hunting if I owned both or if buying a new rifle for hunting purposes.

350L for me. Ruger Ranch rifle, uses AR mags. If I get good running a bolt, not a bad home defence gun.

FWIW, magazines seem to be the key to making 350L run smoothly. IME, the Wilson Combat magazines are the best.

350L would be my choice if not suppressed and hunting Deer.
I shoot 300BLK, but only under 100yd and only at pigs. I don't get full pass through on 100lb pigs and shoulder shots with supers. I just want more power than 300BLK for game animals personally.
I say .350 Legend, especially for suppressed use. .35 cal stuff is still a small enough bore to suppress well, and when you're staying subsonic, heavier bullets with more cross section have a decided advantage.

The handloader can go as heavy as 280 gr. with .350L

We have a Mossberg Patriot in .350 I threaded and run mostly with our Accipiter 375 in 9" flavor, really liking the round for this purpose.

Yeah that certainly seems to be the biggest piece of the puzzle. I didn't realize Wilson made 350 legend mags, although it looks like they only make a 15 round and I'd like to stay with the 10 round size.
