Hello,

I am looking for a standard load that will come close to the .357 mag 135 grain short barrel gold dot factory loading.

I say close because i would like to use either a 125 or 158 grain jacketed bullet with unique.

Will I be able to get the same/similar POI using a 125 or 158 grain bullet as I would the 135 GD? I am basically looking for a practice round that will come close. I know it won't be exact unless i use the actual 135 GD bullet.

This would be shot out of a 2" sp101 and a 3" Gp100.

Any insight on this one would be great.

ArchAngelCD has the recipe right--with the GDSB135JHP bullets. You can use 140LTC bullets and come very close to the GDSB135-gr factory round for POI and felt recoil--in my experience, much closer than either 125 gr or 158 gr JHPs. With the 140 LTCs, accuracy will be about as good as the factory round, and the POI will be within 1/2 to 1" of the factory round.

140LTCs are available from some online resellers--fortunately Mastercastbullets.com not only makes them and sells them, but the price is reasonable, too. I paid under 5 cents per bullet, sized the way I wanted it. You can also buy the GDSB135JHP bullets as well and simply build clones--but these bullets cost about 20 cents each.
