I recently purchased a glock 31 357 sig and plan on reloading for those rounds. My lyman 49 edition reloading manual does not have a recipe for that using bullseye powder. Right now I use bullseye for the 9mm, 45 and .380.

Does anyone have a recipe for that load using a 125 g projectile and using bullseye powder? Does anyone use that powder for that particular load?

Thanks.

IMO: Bullseye is unsuitable for the .357 SIG if top performance is wanted.
It is way too fast burning for any high pressure pistol caliber.

It is great for low pressure calibers like the .45 ACP & .380.
But I'd suggest a slower powder for the higher pressure calibers like the 9mm & .357 SIG.

Bullseye is just too "peaky" with minor powder charge variations when you try to pump it up to 35,000 PSI.

Older Alliant powder guides did list some Bullseye loads for .357 SIG.
They show a 125 JHP with a MAX charge of 6.1 grains, giving 37,000 PSI.
Reduce 10%, to 5.5 grains for your starting load.

But you can get higher velocity with less pressure using Unique, or Herco, or Power Pistol, or Blue Dot.

Related to this, I was just thinking of trying a few loads, does someone have a reccomendation between AA #7 and AA#9 (or something else) for a first time sig loader (my experience is almost entirely with rifle loads).

AA #9 will give about 100 FPS higher velocity then AA #7 with 115 bullets.

But it will be a compressed charge with 125 grain bullets and only gain you 30 FPS or so.

AA #9 is one of the better 357 SIG powders... the compressed charge that RC speaks of help with bullet setback... the SIG has very little neck to hold bullets... bullet setback can be a problem. HS 6 (Win 540) works well along with 800x(if your can get it measured). I load AA #9 mostly below Hornady 124 gr XTPs in my model 31. The 800x is a compressed load too.

AA#9 is pretty sweet in the .357 sig

I think i'm going to load power pistol in the next batch to save a bit on powder and still get some decent velocity .

what a fun cartridge to load for.

Just be darned sure you get bullets made for the 357 sig. A truncated cone type bullet like the 125 XTP. Do NOT use any round nose 9mm bullets, they will seat so deep that they will be below the mouth of the case. You won't be able to hold them there because of the short neck.

I too use powder pistol in the 357 sig. Makes a great load1
