Hello Everyone...

Here is a better picture of my test run on seating a 148 grain DEWC BB bullet from Missouri.

Please let me know if this is seated correctly and if it looks like there is enough crimp on it or not.

Thanks
Stodd

From your picture it looks as if the bullet is being reshaped when you seat or crimo it. It appears to be tapered inward. Might just be the picture.

Anyway, I loaded the HBWC bullet for many years and found it really does not need a crimp. The friction of the case is enough to hold it in place for target loads.

When I loaded hard cast WCs for hunting and SD loads I would often crimp them. Run your fingernail down the bullet, over the crimp. It should go smoothly from bullet to case. If it bumps or hangs up adjust your crimp accordingly.

What are you loading? Powder and charge? Also are you shooting these in a revolver or auto pistol?

Your seating depth is fine, if that is what your gun likes. Let the gun tell you what it needs.

First of all, are you belling your case mouths enough to seat your bullets easily? You should be able to seat your bullet easily if belled correctly. You can seat your bullet at the height in your pictures or seat in flush to the case mouth. A crimp is not necessary, but it would not hurt to give it a kiss of crimp to remove any remaining case belling(flare). After seating your bullet to the depth desired, back off your seating stem and screw your die down until it contacts the loaded round. Lock the die ring in place and readjust your steating stem. Result a perfect round. :)

Look in the stikys there`s pics & answers already there.

HBWCs get the case turned back straight or in just enuff to accomadate reloadin with a speed loader!

As recoil & bullet weight goes up so should the degree of crimp to keep the bullet where it`s supposed to be .

It's a DEWC.

Looks like the case mouth is up a bit far, with virtually no crimp. I looked at the pics of the bullet on the Missouri site, and there is more of a little line than a crimp groove that I am used to seeing but it could be the pic and it should work fine anyway. Just get your O.A.L. set so you can lightly roll the case moth into the groove.
