My son is shooting SASP and wants to play in the centerfire revolver category. I have a whole lot of 158 gr SWC Coated Groovelss bullets and massive amounts of W231. Any recommendations on starting point or load range for a game where power factor lower limit is 105?

I've been out of the reloading game for a few years but getting my stuff set back up this weekend.

SASP is dictating the 105 PF for .38, there is no minimum PF for SCSA. The Hodgdon data should exceed that minimum, the question would be if you want to download below the start charge to get closer to 105 without risking a squib? Do you have a chrono? Do you want to use the same load for both sports, or a lighter load for SCSA?

That data from Hodgdon I have used with a chronograph; to go low enough to get 105 the 158 grain my not be that accurate.

I'd like to use same round for both competitions. I don't necessarily feel the need to be at 105 but rather a low recoil load that works well.

I have a chrono but it's a magnetospeed and not a whole lot of value for a revolver...
