This headache started when I got some HSM HC 100grn RNFP .356 dia. I wanted to load in my 380. Most of the data I find for RNL shows a Coal of .975 These need to sit at .965 to function in my pistol. I was wondering if anybody here has loaded these and what worked best. On hand I have all kinds of pistol powders so I'm flexible there.

I load Hornady's 100gr FMJ-Encapsulated bullet to .960" to ensure 100% functioning in all my .380 Auto pistols.

I usually look for about 925 fps with this bullet,to duplicate factory energy levels (about 190 ft-lbs). The following powders and amounts get me close:

VV N310 - 2.7gr
Accurate #2 - 3.0gr
TiteGroup - 3.0gr
VV N320 - 3.4gr
VV N330 - 3.7gr
VV N340 - 4.0gr
Unique - 4.0gr

Notwithstanding my infatuation with the VihtaVuori products, my favorite powder in the .380 Auto is Accurate #2. Meters like water, burns very clean, and can provide single-digit numbers for standard deviation and extreme spread. What's not to like?

Hope this helps.

I run them at .940" without issues. Honestly, I could probably go a bit shorter. I tend to run them as long as I can get away with. They work ok in my wife's Walther PPK/S. FWIW, I use 2.9 gr of Bullseye.
Edit-This is the bullet we are talking about, right?:

My packaging was different. Brown box only said HSM on it and an orange upc sticker. They used a different lube on mine too, its a dark red. But from where I'm sitting the profile looks the same. Mine are hard cast. If those are soft lead that might explain it.

Thats all I'm looking for too. Thanks for the loads. I have some No.2 I been waiting to try, gonna open it up now. Are thease starting loads or should I back off 10% and work up?

They are hard cast. How hard I couldn't say, but they do fine. When I use these up, I have a box Missouri Bullets 95 gr I'll be switching to. I simply grabbed these because thats what was there.
