I'd like to shoot my little LCP more. I have a lot of components for 380 but I dread the idea of running those tiny little boogers on my Dillon 550. Does anybody run 38 on their SDB? I'm a little hesitant to drop the bucks for the entire kit unless it's going to be cost effective and churn out a lot of practice ammo.

I did run them on a SDB...I moved them over to my 650 and got rid of the SDB...the hardest part of the SDB for me, was the smallness of it...it can crank out the rounds if your hands fit.

I have an SDB set up for 380 ACP.

By my preferred method of loading, I separate the sizing process from loading so the SDB only does the loading. Shortly after shooting the ammunition, I size them on a Hornady L-N-L, then they are cleaned and put away for a future loading session. Small batches of cases resize quick on the Hornady.

I prime off the press. Dillon primer system and I do not get along.

I have the extra small powder bar for the powder measure.

The 380 ACP case is short enough that you can easily see in the case to make sure powder has been dropped.

The SDB works fine loading 380 ACP. Even with my apparent inefficiencies, I can load lots more ammunition than I can shoot.

My main complaint with the SDB, as the cases get longer, it gets more difficult to verify powder has been dropped in the case. 45 ACP and 9x19 are fine but I found 389 Special cases are too long. I have three SDB's one each set up for 45 ACP, 9x19, and 380 ACP respectively. I change cartridges by swapping out the entire press.

I have a cartridge change kit for 38 Special which now sits unused. They are not difficult to change, I just have moved 38 Special loading back to the Hornady L-N-L.

Thanks folks. I'm still not sure if I would ever shoot this pocket pistol enough to offset the upfront costs. The LCP is not the most 'fun' pistol to shoot. Not accurate enough for Bullseye. Too loud for just plinking and the little things are quite snappy. Just a good little partner to throw in your pocket when it's summertime and wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
