.41 Mag or .22 Mag for CCW

I decided to go with a walther ppk, as it seems the most suitable. I'm not a fan of semi automatics but it gets the job done.

defend your country? what are you talking about
:) lolololol

I wouldn't carry a 44 mag in a public/city setting either if given the option. Little much. Instead of down loading your own or buying expensive exotic ccw 44mag stuff (44spl) I think picking up a different piece was a good idea.

I'm a man of extremes, I have 2 handguns under 44 mag. I had an uncle who was one of those .44 Magnum guys (we all know someone like this), who attributed the .44 Magnum to mythical levels of power.

I shot his a couple 4 years ago, and saw no reason to get anything weaker. As I got older I decided more power isn't always better (I killed a coyote with a .300 Ultra WinMag once).

I'm guessing he does not live here and there are probably limitations on what he can carry. Because of the calibers he's talking about I'm guessing he can't carry a caliber that could be considered a "military" caliber. That was the reason I suggested .44 Special loads for his .44 Magnum

I think you're reading too much into it.

Sounds like a fun example to make that piont. Was there anything left of the coyote?

Good morning
Get yourself one of those titanium frame 5 shot 44´s. I sold all my 44´s years ago to settle on 41 mag & 45 Colt. Have a Taurus 5 shot titanium that is great to haul about all day. With 210-240 grainers at 900-950 fps I have no concerns about being underpowered for any situation.
You can get a 44 light weight 5 shot. They are out there for sale. If I still had 44´s that is what I would do. Reliable, simple and plenty of power up close.

IMO a single stack auto is easier to carry than just about any revolver because most are much thinner. Especially for IWB carry I find thickness is the most important factor...for me.

That being said, if you really prefer a revolver there's no reason not to go with one. A J frame sized gun is fairly easy to carry, something like a S&W 442 or Ruger LCR is as close to perfect as it gets IMO. I have no problems relying on a good 38 special load and don't find that big of a difference in recoil compared to the ultra compact 9's/380's.

Congrats! Walther PPK is a pretty good choice. I was rooting for the Single Action, as long as the .22 Magnum was still being considered.

I sometimes carry a SA in .45 Colt and kind of like some of the compromises it provides. If you can find a reliable auto they make easily concealed options.

Fun thread.
