.44 Bulldog: First Impressions

You don't want to use red Loctite on small screws. It takes heat to loosen it up to remove the screw. Blue is what you want, and use sparingly.

Ive had this gun for a few years now.The Bulldog Pug is more stout than i thought.I mostly shoot Buffalo Bore hot loads through it.I carry it as a CCW with HPs'.But for sub $400,no complaints!

I really want to like the CA bulldog, about 5 years ago I looked at three. The fit and finish was sub third world
I have a S&W 696 ND and a Taurus 431 so my opinion maybe jaded.

I really don't "need" one but I've long wanted a .44 Special Bulldog! It seems like a potent and versatile gun for not a lot of money. Currently my only wheelgun is my Ruger LCRx 3". I like it a lot but I can see the virtue of having a light snub in .44 Special to get a bigger bullet (and bigger load of shot for 'snake loads').

I love the 44 special cartridge: mild recoil and a bullet that makes big holes in things!

Here is my Bulldog. I got it for... I dunno, less than $250 (used). It has given me zero problems and is fun to shoot. Due to the shrouded hammer it is the 44spl I am most likely to carry.

But my favorite to shoot is my Rossi 720. It took me months to find a decent one at a reasonable price, but it was time well spent.

And my Taurus has been excellent as well. Can you tell that I REALLY like 44 specials?

UPDATE:

Hey guys! I'm still waiting on my shipment of .44 special ammo, but in the meantime, I got a pair of wood grips for it! Here they are on the gun:

They look awesome, and now the gun sort of reminds me of a Colt for some reason. Love these grips, LOVE THIS BULLDOG!!!! Stay tuned for a full range review when my ammo gets here!!! :D

I picked up one of these last year for my brother and it is the most popular handgun in the whole family. It's the exact same model, 2.5 inch barrel, stainless, with black finger grooved grips. I'm digging the new wooden grips, by the way.
