So I recently posted about my new New Vaquero. Well now I’m interested in another one. I was checking out their website and I noticed they make the New Vaquero in 44 Magnum. I’m just confused because there’s so much on the internet about how the New Vaquero frames aren’t strong enough to handle hot 45 Colt loads. How can they handle factory 44 Magnum?

I did notice that it’s 39oz while the 357 and 45 variants with the same barrel and grip frame are 37oz. Is two ounces really enough added material to make that big of a difference though?

Actually it’s economy of scale, they sell far fewer Vaqueros than BHs. Lower demand means higher unit price, always been that way. Supply and demand rules…unless you want commie price controls.

And those “Veterano Vaqueros” are plenty strong enough for the .44. :)

Got to love those older Vaqueros, especially in .45 Colt!

I much prefer the Blackhawks.
The big frame Vaquero is preferred over the New Vaquero.

I have a New Vaquero .45 Colt, with .45 ACP cylinder. When I find a Blackhawk to replace it, it will be sold.
