I'm trying to find a 44mag JHP/SJHP in the 180-240gr weight range that will work well in a 44spl. Most 44mag bullets are designed to open up at 44mag velocities, which lessens their effect in the milder 44spl velocities.

I'm not looking for a 44spl bullet. Those do exist, but I'm looking for something that's a bit more versatile between the calibers. I've read that the XTP 200gr .430's expand reliably at a wide variety of ranges. Does anyone have any experience with these or other JHP's in 44spl?

I intend to use these as practice/light hunting/HD rounds. I know... reloading for HD is not the highly regarded, but I don't want to start an argument about it in this thread. I just want a round that will stop the BG and not hurt my neighbors.

Oh yeah... accuracy is an important factor, too. ;)

The XTP's or Speer's Gold dots in the lighter weights will work fine. 200 gr at 800-850'ish fps, will get good expansion and penetration with either.

hdy 180 xtp,Rem 180 jhp, Speer 200 grain gdhp. All very accurate in 44 special or 44 mag "milder" loads. Never tried the 200 grain xtp
