Unique is at the top of my list also.

But the old 230 gr 45acp in 1911A1 is so forgiving it will function and shoot well with any number of powders as others have mentioned above. I call mine a “Corn Sheller” as that’s what it reminds me of! Kind of like an by gone dot matrix printer at work!:)

One powder that’s given me excellent accuracy and has not been mentioned is Nitro 100. You may try that one.

I started out shooting 230 grain exclusively, but now have settled on the 200 gr LSWC as my favorite. My 5” Kimber handles them quite flawlessly as does my son’s RIA officers model.
One day I’m going to try the 185 LSWC

Good luck in your quest!

I've loaded 45ACP with 230RN FMJ for years using 4.2 gr Bullseye. It was accurate and about as dirty as any other powder I tried. Before that, I used Red Dot because it was all I could find at the time.

I got some Herco Back when the last shortage happened. Really was surprised at how well it worked with a 230 grain Bullet. Use the the same Grain load in FMJ and Plated. I have not Found a Powder that I like better for the 45 than Herco. Burns pretty Clean. Also Have Used Unique. Titegroup, Red Dot, and Bulseye. all are Pretty Decent in the 45. I would Probably prefer the Unique or Herco In a Rifle.
