45 colt brass available at Cabela's.

Well, I'll agree you have to buy what you find when supplies are slim.

But, I generally do not consider anything less than 500 cases as an appropriate purchase.

While during the pandemic, I have not been shooting much but before the extreme shortages of late, when I'd buy a new firearm with a cartridge I did not already have, I'd buy a good supply of cases, 500-1000 pieces. Then, when the shortages hit, I'd be set.

As they say "poor pryer planning results in poor performance."

Good deal that Cabelas has some 45 Colt cases.

Starline id offering up 500 for $131.50 including free shipping. About $0.26 a round. Cabela's comes in around $0.30 per round. Normally when I buy brass from Starline I but 500 or 1000. Then too I have a Cabela's $50 gift card from Christmas and I think about a few hundred Cabela's bucks on my account. It's a tossup.

Not everyone need 500 cases especially for 45 Colt, not like you lose them.
If you have a local BP or Cabellas free to store pickup.
lever guns sling them out, and cowboy’s matches step on them all day. but for the civilized cowboy, 100-300 case is good

I like having spares on hand. I do not necessarily load up every empty case I have.

Besides, frequently, you get a price break at some quantity purchased.

Finally, component shortages seem to be coming every few years or so these days. It is nice to be able to shoot through them.

I eject them directly into my hand, in 357 to 30-30. My son thinks he is Clint Eastwood or the rifleman
With my Marlin 1894C in 357 Mag, I cycle the lever slowly and cases do not stray too far.

I have not fired my Miroku Winchester 1873 much to know how connected it is to the Bermuda Triangle of brass.

I understand that youngsters can get wrap up in movie characters. It is not necessarily a bad thing as long as they keep safety at the forefront.

I was jesting about him ejecting brass, I have zero tolerance for games. He either focuses on the mission or we go home.... he wants to run around and be crazy I have a shelter dog that can wear him out...
