I had one of the Legacy (Puma) carbines in 454. I liked it. My brother-in-law liked it even better and bought it from me. I didn't know anyone else made one.
If anyone else makes one I can't find it... I handled one a few months ago and really liked it, but didn't have the money.
I'm also saving money right now for the .45C Redhawk... almost there... and I already have a .454 SRH (wasn't impressed by the accuracy with .45C), so I'm working on a downladed .454 load. I'm shooting for 1200-1300 fps out of a 9.5" barrel. The listed starting load for the 240grXTP/M resulted in 1725fps and the stating load for the 300grXTP/M got me 1600fps (chrony @ 15ft). I think I'll save those loads for the rifle. Either way the deer probably won't know the difference.
For the 4" .45C, I think a 230gr or 240gr moving out at ~1000fps would be about right.
and leverguns and pistols chambered in the same caliber. I'm not a real cowboy, I just play one on TV, I mean the weekends. Yes, as far as I know the Rossi is the only game in town right now and I foolishly passed up one in Stainless Steel a couple of years back.:banghead: I have been waiting for Mrlin to come out with one in 454 Cassul but now I would like to see one in .460. I would also like to see ruger or Freedom do a Single action revolver in 460. In the rifle you would be able to shoot both the 460 and the 454 but it is doubtfull the 45colt would function properly. The revolver could handle the 45 Cowboy, 45 Schofield, 45 Colt, 454 Cassul and, the 460.
I have one of the .454 Puma '92--I like it. However, it is only 100% reliable with Starline brass. Fed. WW and Rem. cases would occasionally not eject, in either .454 or .45 Colt.
