I have 2 requirements.
Be heavy as possible.
Still fit in a 1911 mag.
Would like the carbine rounds to still be usable in the 1911.

I loaded up a test batch of really cheap 250gr hollow jacketed points to test around 15 years ago in a 1911.
The recoil was noticeably worse than 230gr which was a surprise and they didn't appear to do anything 230gr ammo couldn't already do. So I abandoned the idea.
Now I have a carbine and that will easily tame the recoil.
Are there any use able loads for 45acp loaded with heavier than 250 gr bullets?
The powders I would most likely use would be unique or AA7 and AA9.
My manual only goes to 250gr.

Doesn't CMMG banshee come with a delayed blowback? Maybe a Banshee could hot rod 45. Does anyone make a 460 Rowland PCC?

The case has an internal taper. I imagine anything over 230 is going to start swagging down the bullet or pushing out the sides of the case. At 230 to 250 the effect is going to be minimal but anything larger and you'll start running into problems.

I've loaded up some max loads for my High Point carbine with a 200 grain SWC and Blue Dot. They were not pleasant to shoot in a 1911.

I load light for 45acp in my handguns, and my normal loads won't cycle my FNX45. I was worried they would not cycle a Thompson, but they worked great and were accurate @ 25 yards. With the 11 lb gun, it felt like shooting a 22.

Years ago I had a bunch of commercial .452" 255 gr. cast SWC's that I loaded and shot in my Colt Gov't Model Series 70. The powder was Blue Dot, the load, which I don't remember off the top of my head, I found in an old 45 Auto magazine and it ran said bullet around 925-950 fps. What I do remember about the load is that it was VERY accurate.
