So I'm looking at purchasing a bolt gun in 5.45x39 (don't ask why as I don't have an answer for that question). The major issue is feeding it, as with surplus ammo accuracy is nothing to write home about. With new manufacture 5.45 it does quite well, and I'd like to see what I can do by reloading for it. However to my knowledge there aren't many options currently as far as reloading for the 5.45.

So a) does anyone have an experience with reloading for the 5.45? And b) anyone have any idea what components are out there for it? If I have to go berdan priming steel cases, I think I'll pass on this rifle.

Thanks!

I see where you can buy reformed brass, but it is expensive. You can also form your own. You can also get reloading dies. Seems expensive. I never had a rifle in this caliber. Not sure it is worth the time, expense, and trouble to reload it.

Hornady makes a steel case that I'm supposing is boxer primed. So it'd be possible to reload for it. Kind of with you on it not being worth the cost to reload for it.
