590a1 barrel qusetion.

I've had a 590a1 and when the barrel was put on and tighten down with the magazine cap the barrel still moved around. I could move it from right to left. It wasn't that loose but I would like it to be tight and not move at all. I'm pretty sure this is not how it is supposed to be because I've seen other 590a1's and they were tight with no movement. Can this be fixed or not? And if so how do I do it?

Hmmm... are you saying it's loose at the receiver? The mag nut only sets the tightness of the barrel in the axial direction.

sounds like the barrel or the reciever is damaged if it is not locking in completely, but without seeing it first hand I can only speculate.

Yes, I believe that is what I'm trying to say. I think. It's when it's fully assembled and the barrel still has movement in the receiver. Can this be fixed.

I checked mine and there is only a little rotational movement around the magazine tube but not as much as my 870.

I checked my Mossberg 500. There is a little side-to-side play to the barrel. My shotgun works fine. I think yours will, too.

I've seen this with Remington 870s as well.
