I'm looking for a tactical shotgun and I want to buy American so I'm looking at Mossberg. I like the 590a1 but I've heard Mossberg shotguns can be a hit or miss when it comes to their quality control area. Is this true? And I also noticed that even when the barrel is tightened down by the magazine tube end cap there is still some movement with the barrel in the receiver. Is this how it's supposed to be? I was looking at the Ithaca 37 Defense but they seem kind of hard to take down and none of the gun shops around me can order them. I had a Rem 870 but I really didn't care for it. Nothing wrong with it, just didn't like it.

Well I noticed the barrel movement of a few 590 and 590a1s. All were tightened as they should be. I don't know, maybe this is a defect:confused:? But why would gun shops be selling a number of defected shotguns:uhoh:?

If the specter of barrel movement is of concern, then maybe the Ithaca 37 Home Defense is for you as the barrel is integral to the receiver on that model shotgun.

My 590A1 is rock solid, heavy as hell though. Added a speedfeed stock and a sidesaddle to it. It's home defense gun that's for sure because you ain't going to be lugging that thing much further than your front door lol!

590A1 is combat and LEO tested as a fantastic machine, you will love it, unless of course you can afford a Benneli M4 Beretta_benelli.jpg

Mossy 590A1 - Model 51660 : Long mag, bead sights, trad stock.
Works perfectly every time.
I use a Limbsaver pad.
Load it with Reduced Recoil loads to begin with.

I DO NOT recommend a pistol grip, as the safety is on top.
If you are a pistol shooter, you will appreciate keeping your trigger finger STRAIGHT while you activate the safety. The Remington 870 requires you to bend your trigger finger and poke it toward the trigger to engage the safety -- I big no-no in my book.

You won't be disappointed.
