6.5-08?

I know that there are a lot of 6.5 chambers in the ballpark of a 6.5 Creedmoor as well as 260 Remington etc, but with a .308 case necked down to 6.5mm, I think I would have a pretty easy conversion for an Arisaka barrel. What am I missing? I’m not worried about doing the bolt face work as that’s just a few thousandths, and my bolt is loose anyway, so I may not have to even do it at all.

I havent done much besides shoot the .260, but I've always been under the impression it's a straight neck down .308.
I'd think it would/should work fine from an Ari, my last one was 6.5-284 and that worked fine.....tho the 6-284 was problematic.
Might also check out ye olde 6.5x55, the Ari's mag is long enough, and the slope sided case may feed better, as the x58 has a decent tapper.

260 Remington is the 6.5-08. Just 308 Winchester necked down to 6.5mm.

Yea, 243, 260, 7-08, 308, 338 Fed and 358 are all based on the same case, just different calibers.
