I have two rifles both on Mauser actions the .280 is a Flaig's on a 1909 Argentine Mauser action. The 6.5 I don't know who made the action. I have been thinking of selling one off.
I have a case of 6.5x57 ammo and only two or three boxes of .280. I have hunted with a Ruger #1 30-06 for over 40 years, so this is not a case of looking for a different hunting rifle.
I just want to downsize what I have.

I’d sell the 280
I agree.

The 30-06 covers what the .280 will do nicely. The 6.5x57 is a very cool cartridge especially if you reload, varmints through deer. My Austrian FIL has one that he used for Chamois through Stag. I loaded for it while I was stationed in Germany.

and I've got a set of 6.5x57 dies that I'd let go very reasonably.... and some brass.
