I'm considering a 7.62x39 bulk buy from Sportsman's Guide. Does anyone have any real world experience with both Hotshot AND Wolf? Accuracy? Please don't tell me I only shoot Lapua. Please limit suggestions to what the Sportsman's Guide has for sale.

Thanks a bunch guys!

Hotshot is Romanian, and i haven't read anything but good about it.
Though most reports on Wolf give it thumbs up, i read more complaints about it than every thing else, combined.Though you asked only for advice on what SG has on sale,i have to agree with claymore and recommend golden tiger. It's easily the most popular steel cased Rusky stuff around, me and my buds have been very happy with it.A case, delivered, from Copes is likely gonna run less than a case of wolf from SG.

Golden Tiger is what I prefer. You can get 1000 rnd. case for $210 delivered from Ammo Connection.

I've shot well over 1000 rounds of Wolf through my SKS, no problems. I don't have any experience with hot shot, but I'm sure its good, although pricier. My SKS with the Wolf FMJ's will group into 4-5" at 100 yards, ok by me.:)

One more thing, Wolf seems to have cleaned up its act lately, concerning dirtiness, it only takes 4 or 5 patches to get the bore clean now, compared to 15-20 a year ago.

I have shot about 500 rounds of hotshot with one failure to eject. I don't think that was the ammo's fault though. It seems fine to me. I would go with whatevers cheaper.

Which Wolf? Wolf makes several different flavors of 7.62x39 ammo at different factories in different countries. I've shot a variety of steel cased JHP and FMJ Wolf (black box, not military classic) in my SKS carbines. It functions well. I did not have such good luck with Silver Bear ammo (nickel plated cases).
