So those that have used Wolf Military Classic ammo in their SKS.....what are your impressions/opinions of it? Does it seems to cycle well - reliable?

Never had a problem with it not going bang. If your rifle has an odd magazine well/ magazines (some ARs in this caliber) or a weak firing pin spring/ fouled firing pin channel, or tight chamber tolerances, or rifling that just doesn't like the bullet (or it's a US 308 762, not a true 311 762), your rifle may not like it.
Any old combloc SKS/AK should eat it all day long.

if it is steel cased ammo with the lacquer coating like regular Wolf, I avoid it even in the current scare, I had a thousand rounds of .308 from years ago, paid $4 a box, you wouldnt believe what suckers will pay for that junk. I just took the money and ran.

See, Wolf 308 is a different animal. Not just a different caliber, the Wolf 308 is Russians making an American caliber for American guns... the Wolf x39 is Russians making a Russian caliber for Russian guns, if you follow me.

Works fine for range ammo. I've got a bunch of it. I prefer the 154 Wolf soft point when I can get it, though. It's a full MOA more accurate at 100 yards and is a good round for hunting. I was going to order a 500 round half case of it when this damned ammo shortage hit.

Never had an issue with Wolf ammo, lacquer or polymer coated.
I realize the OP was referring to an SKS - but I bought some Wolf ammo because it was cheap and I didn't know any better when I first bought my AR. Within the first 10 rounds it broke the extractor. Took it to local shop, the guy saw the Wolf box in my case, asked me if I had shot that in it - "yes" - he immediately went to his parts bin for a new extractor.. Never had a problem with any other stuff but I will NOT ever use any Wolf in my AR again...:uhoh:

I can give Wolf a solid "meh". Not the best, but not the worst either. I like Golden Tiger much better, but I would say it's better than Tula.

Never had any issue with Wolf ammo in my SKS/AK rifles, they eat it like candy. My Bushy AR has no problem with the stuff either. I do wish the days of $85/1000 rounds would return though.

I honestly don't find a world of difference in the various Bears, wolfs, tigers, tula, herters, etc. My AK and SKS eat 'em all all day long, and no one brand has ever stood out as causing malfunctions or being any more or less accurate....I buy whats available and out of whats available, often whats cheapest.... and Hell, i dont remember the last time either rifle HAD a malfunction....

I've had a couple of boxes of bad Wolf ammo out of thousands and thousands I've shot. One box wouldn't fire. Another box blew the primers out the back side. That was a problem. The stuff that wouldn't shoot wasn't. I just kept hitting it again until it went bang. No sense wasting good ammo.

You have to understand that I've shot many thousands of rounds of the Wolf ammo. I have several thousand more laying around too. I don't worry about buying it. For the most part it has been very reliable. It's about as accurate as any 7.62 x 39 from Russia. People say the American stuff is better but I've never even bought any of it. I think the Russian stuff is accurate enough. After about 200 yards it will start to drift though. It isn't the best ammo in the world but it's good enough.

I find it to be reliable, but not as accurate in my guns as the Barnul and Golden Tiger. Shooting a scoped AR I can really tell the difference, open sighted commie guns, not so much.

If your extractor broke, then the issue was you had a crappy extractor. I've shot plenty of Wolf ammo through my AR, SKS and AK-47.

I often shoot it and have laid back about 500 rounds. I too prefer Golden Tiger, but
7.62x39 out an AK or SKS, it's all pretty digestable.
I hear people moan about "Cheap Ammo" being hard on this gun or that part and it just has not been my experiance. To be honest I can't remember ever having an issue with steel cased Russian ammo, now brass cased Federal U.S. ammo in bulk has at time given me fits at times and I refuse to buy any more of it.
YMMV.

The Wolf Military Classic uses a new and less gummy polymer coating rather than the lacquer, and at least initially, the MC JHP load used the much sought after Uly projectile, making it highly desirable. I don't know if that has changed. Even the older lacquer coated stuff isn't a problem. I have shot cases of it through several SKS and while it can be a pain to clean, I've never had it negatively affect the operation of my firearm. The Military Classic line with the polymer coating is better, for sure. I've shot cases of both through a number of different AKs and SKSs with very little issue. I can't speak for its use in other cartridges or platforms, but in 7.62x39 and in Russian designed weapons, Wolf is completely servicable--maybe not the best, but certainly not the worst.

Combloc ammo in a combloc rifle?!

Sorry to be feseatious but they were made for each other. :)

Big +1!

Some lots are more accurate that others, but none are really consistent. Personally I'd rather more shots of cheaper ammo at larger steel pates that expensive ammo so I can use my smallest plates.

After about 3,000 rds. in my Norinco SKS -only Wolf Mil. and Monarch- every round fired the first time.

With the affordable price of such Russian ammo, I would never consider buying US-made 7.62x39.

My favorites:

Golden Tiger, easily the best.
WPA military classic, second place.
Tula/Herters third but not far behind WPA.

Silver and Brown bear, crap.
