This is my new ar. I used a stripped dsa lower and model 1 upper. Group was shot at 100 yds off of daypack. Winchester brass, rl7 powder, 174g speer bullets at 2005 fps. These bullets have a .499 bc. I am looking forward to some long distance shooting with them. I chronoed some wolf rounds at about 2400fps and S&L 123g at 2412. I am very happy with the rifle and have less than $700.00 dollars invested.

Nice! You can duplicate .300 Blackout ballistics, and shoot $5/box ammo with the same rifle.

Yes. That was an area of concern. AR stoner mags from midway...cause they had them. Loaded up 25 rounds and no problems.

Are you sure?

That curve sure looks like the old C-Products 30 round mags. Its possible AR Stoner is making them now, with good (real AK) springs they should be fine at least with FMJ ammo.

My Model-1 Sales 7.62x39 did this with Wolf FMJ at 50 yards, 20 shots witih scope at 1X, after zeroing with scope at 4X off sandbags:

I would love an ar chambered in 7.62x39, but I hear so many bad stories. I really wanted the sig 556 russian but the youtube video made me thank twice. Then my friend just got his RR ar chambered in 7.62 and he's having feeding problems. I don't know what mags he has for/with it. He said if he only loads 5 rounds it runs good.
Thats a sweet gun you have there and a very nice price point, especially if it runs reliable outing after outing. I'll investigate the upper you have since it runs good. Hopefully it would work on my psa lower.

The mags are the key I believe. I am a rock river guy with lots of their rifles but wanted to try it this way first. With 223 mags only a few rounds feed reliably. With the mags pictured I shot hollow points, wold fmj, handloads with 308 bullets without any trouble. The mags have a specific follower in them and the springs feel a lot different than 223 mags as well. I am going to do another one with floating forend.

My 7.62x39 30 round C-products mags are only reliable with FMJ ammo and then only after I replaced the springs with real AK springs from Bulgarian surplus mags, the C-Products springs in the Bulgarian mags have worked fine so far, although they clearly are a good bit weaker than the originals were.

I've a C-Products 10 round 7.62x39 AR mag it its worked 100% with every ammo type I've tried. For hunting, I'd also expect a 5 round mag would be reliable.

My SIG 556R has none of the problems shown on the video, Only issue has been the occasional (2 or 3 per 100) failure to fire despite a good looking primer hit on the last of my case of Golden Tiger ammo (maybe one summer too many sitting in my garage), fresh Wolf has been fine.

The 7.62 X 39 round is a tapered round and requires a curved magazine to feed properly. The problem with the AR platform is that it has a straight mag well. In order to adapt it to 7.62 X 39 the magazine must have a straight portion in order to fit through the mag well. This straight portion causes feeding problems. There is no way around this using a standard AR lower. Some company (can't remember) makes a modified lower that will take regular curved AK magazines. It cost more than you want to pay.

Maybe my mags will give me trouble in the future...but then the world might come to an end in the future. Problems are solved all the time and this is a great little setup...irregardless of the problems people have had in the past. RRA is making a proprietary angled lower and there products are really good. Having a correct follower and spring in the mag makes all the difference.

Ive got a bushmaster ar in 762x39 it will shoot moa with 123 vmaxs and 1680. Like was said the trick to mags is buy c products mags and swap out for wolf extra power mag springs. Mine is a 100 percent reliable like that even with wolf ammo which by the way will shoot into 1.5 inchs at a 100 yards.

As is often the case giving the folks accurate information that is UP TO DATE brings out all the old guys telling the op how it really is and suggesting the op does not know what he is talking about. I am not knocking anyones setup or bragging about mine. I thought it would be nice to tell others what works. C product mags were not available now. The mags I purchased were backordered at Midway. Nuff said.

Are you serious, even the old 7.92 Kurz will out do the .300 AAC, let alone the 7.62x39. Heck Savage has even dropped chambering it.
