Any one have any opinion on the two?

[7" Pros]==================================================
* 4" shorter
* If desired a KX3 can be added, not sure if this is worthwhile noise wise or not for 9x19mm.

[7" Cons]==================================================
* Slightly awkward to hold given the need to hold it closer.
* Shorter sight radius

[11" Pros]==================================================
* Longer sight radius
* 50 fps faster on average, fairly irrelevant, but may be tunable for more with the right load
* Slightly easier to hold with hand positioned a bit farther forward

[11" Cons]=================================================
* If a device like a KN3 is desirable, then it becomes notably longer.

It depends on what you're defending. Specifically outdoor or indoor.

I read somewhere long ago, a 22LR actually loses velocity after the barrel gets beyond 18-20 inches. I suspect the nine doesn't gain the same way a magnum rifle does from barrel length, as you alluded to as well. So why the question? Handling?

In any sort of a nine, carbine, pistol, rifle; I think I'd always choose a shorter barrel, but not less than four inches.

If the need to shoot a longer rifle more accurately arose, I'd shoot a longer rifle. I.E., I'd use the nine for what it's good for -- close quarters, and embrace the shorter barrel.

As to it's purpose, that is purely range use. For home defense, while legal now with preemption here in IL, I would not want to have to deal the fall out from using it as that in this city/county.

No, not to that extreme, but 9mm carbines do produce significantly higher velocity than from a pistol, to a noticeable degree....

This.

I've a 7.5" and 5.5" The 5.5" is best when suppressed, the 7.5" has plenty to hang on to up front. Save the 11" for 5.56 which is about as short as you can go and still use most 5.56 suppressors with it.
