8x57 and 8x57J

8x57J uses .318 diameter bullets for the older unaltered 1888 Mauser, and the 8x57 designation is used for the .323 diameter commercial ammo.

I don't have any data for loads, but did find that SAAMI registration of the 8x57j .318" 1888 Mauser is 35,000 psi.
You might be able to find a Trailboss load with a cast bullet.

Properly, the 7.92x57J and the 7.92x57JS are the .318 and .323, respectively. The "J" is really a gothic I, from Infanterie. The S is for the "spitz geschoss" or spitzer for the pointed versus round nosed bullet. The German cursive is attached.
