I was wondering if anyone knew where i could purchase the conversion kit to modify a polish TTC tokarev to fire 9mm

I used to see the kits around quite often but now they seem harder to find.

has anyone else had any luck finding the parts to convert their Tokarevs?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated, cheers!

I don't think the conversion kits are still available, but you may find one used online and many posted barrel fitting and feeding reliability issues. BTW, for the costs involved for the conversion barrel and 9mm mags, have you considered just getting a 9mm pistol?

I had a Norinco Tokarev chambered in 9mm and although it was a bit rough, it was reliable and probably more so than the 7.62x25 to 9mm conversion many posted issues with.

Well, I finally got to try out the Navy Arms 9x19mm conversion barrel. It dropped in fine, perhaps a touch tighter fit than the stock barrel. I bought some cheap Winchester white box ammo to start with, 115gr FMJ and 147gr JHP.

I shot about 30 rds of the FMJ without problems. At 15 yards, height and grouping were about the same as my surplus 7.62 ammo. The TU-90 has a tall rear sight and is probably zeroed to about 75 yards. I've never taken it that far, as my indoor range is 25 yds.

I switched to the JHP and noticed a smaller group right off the bat. However, after two magfulls, I began to have extraction problems. The extractor was slipping off the case, leaving it in the barrel, and jamming up the next round. I haven't had a chance to examine the gun and clean the extractor. I don't know if the extractor is giving up the ghost, or if the cases are jamming in the barrel.

If you are still interested in the conversion journey, this video outlines 9mm Norinco Tokarev to 7.62x25 conversion. Doing the reverse would get you 7.62x25 to 9mm conversion - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lBLiSdY0PA

I bought the last 2 that Numrich had in stock last year. One of them was actually a .38super barrel. If you happen to find a barrel keep in mind you will still need a link/pin if it does not have one ($32 on gunbroker), and a barrel bushing($42 on ebay). I would love to find some more, as I had my 9mm reamed to 9x23winchester.

I bought two from Numerich last year as well, the chamber on both was too small and the lead was very short. I had to have my local gunsmith ream one out to spec for me, reamed the other one for 9x23 Win myself. They came with links/pins and I bought a bushing from ebay for under $10. Have prices changed that much?

All you need to convert your Polish Tok to 9mm is a norinco 213 9mm barrel and bushing plus a Norinco 213 mag. The 213 9mm mag has an internal spacer to keep the shorter 9mm rounds from moving forward under recoil. I picked up all my norinco parts from various sellers at gunbroker a few years ago.

Sorry I thought about it later, I could not find a bushing anywhere so I bought 9mm compensator, that is why it was more $$$. The link/pin is very hard to come by now, but It is pretty simple. I know a guy with a CNC and thought about having him make a bunch of links.

I've noticed a couple of posters mention the Norinco 213 9mm. I'm not trying to derail the thread and it might be relevant because the OP might want to consider one. I just picked one up less than a week ago for about $200 out the door ($180 before the damn taxes) and haven't gotten to shoot it yet.

Anything I should know? Performance? Lifespan? Small parts I should keep on hand?

Seems like it was built pretty well and is definately a comfortable full sized pistol.
