I recently purchased a Romanian Tokarev TTC pistol and really like it.

My only bother is that cr@ppy safety that C.A.I. installed. I was wondering if anyone here just removed it? From what I have read simply pulling the retaining clip all the way out will allow you to remove the safety. The gun already has a safety by pulling the hammer back to the first detent.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Taking it off makes it no different than its original design (like, say, you bought one of the earlier Russian imports). I left the safety on mine, but I haven't ever engaged it. Mine is probably worse than useless...its ugly, and it's not an effective safety at all (it's really easy to move from S to F).

I took mine off due to it's insane ugliness. Sure, it leaves a hole in your frame that you can see straight through, but it's still looks less DIY than that stupid safety.

I can post you some pics later but I'm currently feeding my daughter and won't have much of a chance to do it tonight, but I'll try to do so soon.

BTW, It's really easy to take off (and put back) and I've noticed no changes in operation.

I have no problem with it, since it allowed these fine Toks to be imported, and me to get one cheap. Would I rather it wasn't installed? Sure. Would I rather have an ugly hole through the frame? Absolutely not.
Besides, though it is not a carry safety, I find it useful at the range.

I don't believe I would mind the hole. I did not buy the gun for beauty. I got it because it is cheap and the ammo is cheap.

I pondered removing mine and soldering the hole up or installing a rivet in its place.

I decided instead to file the lever down till it was flat and I never use it.
