Looking for loads you all have tried that work well for you. Berrys 9mm 124gr hbfp-tc. I have bullseye, 231, and cfe. This is my first go with the hbfp rounds, so i am looking to see what i need to do.
***all loads should be worked up to***

Following is from the Hodgdon website:

124 GR. BERB HBRN TP
Hodgdon CFE Pistol .356" 1.150" 4.9 1,006 27,300 PSI 5.5 1,120 33,800 PSI
Winchester 231 .356" 1.150" 3.9 920 27,400 PSI 4.4 1,037 31,900 PSI

The Berry's HBRN length is .620" and the HBFP length is .550".

If you use the above loads and load the HBFP to a COL of (1.150-(.620-.550)) 1.080", then you should be safe. The suggested COL from Berry's for the 124gr HBFP is 1.060"

Good luck and be safe.

Thanks. I check all the bullets i get for length just incase i need to correct for differances between batches. Appreciate the input very much. This forum is awsome for good answers in a short time.

I first tried them at 1.055 OAL, but they were a bit finicky at that OAL so they need to be loaded longer than that. 1.060 seemed to do better.

4.7 Grs of N330 @ 1.055 OAL pushed them to an average 1066 FPS from a 5" 1911 in 80+ degree temps.

4.9 Grs of N340 @ 1.060 OAL pushed them to an average 1129 FPS from the same 5" 1911. 80+ degrees

4.4 Grs of N320 @ 1.045 OAL pushed them to an average 1131 FPS. 96 degrees.

YMMV. Check load data, start low, use at your own risk. For reference only.

Hi Folks, I just saw this post and figured I'd add my 2 cents. I really like the CFE powder and find it to be very clean burning, even at starting loads.

I use 5.1gr of CFE pistol with the Berrys 124 HBFP at 1.065 OAL and get about 1025 FPS out of my PPQ 4 inch. Very accurate load.
