HI All
Does anyone have a load recipe for the following
9mm
Tightgroup powder
124 grain copper coated bullet
124 lead powder coated bullet
4 inch barrel
Need for IDPA needs to be below 1009 FPS

Hodgden's website show fps ranging from 957 to 1057 depending on the charge.

Not meaning to be snarky, but published reloading manuals have just about all the info you need. In the case of your plated and PCed bullets, start with lead data. Another hint; find a load (bullet, primer, powder and powder charge) before you buy any components...

FWIW, My Rule #1, is I pay no attention to any load data I see on any forum, hear from any gun counter clerk, good intended friend, range rat or gun shop guru, and I don't post my loads. For over 40 years I have gotten my data from published reloading manuals (not magazine articles either) mainly as guidelines for starting and max loads. I keep a log of every load I use for further load work.

If you are experienced in reloading and just asking for "pet loads", excuse me for thinking you are a new reloader...

I still won't publish my loads, my experience is different from yours.

4.2grn TG and a 124grn Berrys @ 1.135" gives me 1050fps out of my 3.6" Kahr, and 1100fps out of a 5" PT-92.

Your mileage may vary, need not be present to win, no warranty implied or given.

Edited. Think I'm going to follow the lead of more experienced members here & not share info that may be used as a (potentially dangerous) shortcut.

Sorry OP. You're going to want to work up your own load data anyway, so my numbers wouldn't have any value to you.

I established my Rule #1 way pre web after hearing the fellers at the gun shop swapping loads and some were pretty wild. One example of why I ignore data other than published manuals (or powder manufacturer's web sites) is several years ago I saw a load on a forum that was over one full grain of Unique over max (IIRC closer to 2 gr.). The load stayed on the forum for over a day before corrected then the poster's excuse was "sorry, my fat fingers hit the wrong key". Experienced handloaders have no trouble determining a BS/unsafe load, but newer reloaders haven't gotten their BS filters developed and may have used that load. I wonder if any new reloaders tried that load...

Which is why I merely stated that the Hodgdon site had the data he was looking for
