This morning I stopped into the store room before work to pull some .38 Spl brass. I need some light loads for the weekend. 109gr LTC over 3.5gr Bullseye. It’s a staple for water bottles. The profile is almost identical to the 9mm .356” NLG equivalent. I have a Herters seater setup for that type.

Looks ok to me. Caniks are kinda known for shorter throats so I keep mine between 1.10” and 1.107”.

HS6 has the best accuracy over the longest time. I’ve tried Titegroup too and it shot well but I only had a small sample to try. I use these in a Canik Mete as a bullseye pistol.

In 9mm I have found HS-6 to really excel with the heavier weight bullets (147 grain). Especially when worked up safely to higher charge range! In my case, MAX listed charge.

For lighter bullets I've had good results with HP-38 and WinClean 244.

It's using a recipe either way! I am just learning how to bake, but I have LOTS of other cooking tools my wife keeps buying me! I never knew how much I liked cooking...

It shoots DEWC from a 357 Mag at magnum velocity (1100) very accurately too. It’s a little more expensive than some powders just because it uses a little higher charge relatively speaking. For 9mm it’s hard to beat.

It’s a $400 knife and worth every penny.
I easily have more money invested in kitchen knives, appliances and gadgets than in reloading gear. But my knives are restaurant quality Japanese folded carbon steel or Solingen steel forged and welded.
We all have priorities.

Titegroup and W231 are about 2000 rounds of 9mm or 38 Special. I don’t know if they’ll beat the accuracy of HS6 but they are close.

Anyways. I had to bring down the COL of the 147 to 1.080” that feed all 3 guns I’m testing. I love that sound when a round feeds flawless… a Smooth Clunk!

I load my 124’s to 1.09, so seems okay to me. I think you can load the round nose longer but seating depth is probably the same

I agree.

1 pound powder = 7,000 grains.

With the 147 gr bullet:

Win 231 3.0-3.4 grains
N320 3.1-3.9 grains

Using 3.3 grains with zero spillage (LOL! Not me!) a person can load

7000 / 3.3 = 2,121 bullets. So let’s say if you are real messy, probably 2,000 bullets.

$50 lbs / 2000 = $0.025 per round
$40 lbs / 2000 = $0.02 per round

It matters, but it’s pretty dependent on how much you shoot to make a difference on my powder choice.

Titegroup and W231 ... I don’t know if they’ll beat the accuracy of HS6

At below high-to-near max load data of HS-6, Titegroup/W231/HP-38/Sport Pistol/Bullseye will produce smaller groups. At high-to-near max load data, HS-6 produced good accuracy. I tested HS-6 for USPSA but for barely meeting major power factor, I went with WSF instead.

WSF/BE-86 can produce accuracy even down to mid-range load data and BE-86 down to lower charges approaching published start charges.

And for me, WST produced most accurate 9mm loads followed by BE-86 (Sub 2" at 25 yards) closely trailed by Bullseye/Titegroup/Sport Pistol around 2" groups and W231/HP-38 at 2"+ groups (I replaced Bullseye with No 2 due to recent price increase of Alliant powders).

But 1st, the Berry 124 RN 3.8 Universal 1.115” shoots great with almost all the guns tested today. Last photo is STI with 124 Berry

147 conclusion with #5 .. Powder is very fine, don’t really like it. But very consistent accuracy results

Understood. So the key is to make PF and accuracy is secondary.

Just a correction on my previous post. I indicated "I have done a lot with AA#5", but it should be "I have not done a lot with AA#5". I have corrected my pervious post.

I know you are looking for a 9mm load. My most accurate load with the RMR 147gr and 124gr Match winner bullets are actually in 357sig. These bullets are very accurate. You just need to find the perfect combination.
