the 226 x5

I haven't had the gun to the range yet, but I have found a few deficiencies:

Apparently, there is no de-cocker.

The safety locks the slide so the gun cannot be loaded or unloaded with the safety on.

Whatever they use to blacken the aluminum alloy, is not durable and has chipped off a sharp edge already.

Not really difficiencies. Just unusual expectations on your part.

I've never been around or heard of a dedicated SA gun that had a decocker. They may exist, but they're not COMMON. I don't remember ever having a SA gun that allowed the safety to function while loading or unloading and I've had a few.

  • If you're stopping temporarily, you just engage the safety with the hammer cocked. If you're putting the gun away, you drop the magazine and rack the slide to empty the chamber, then manually decock -- which you can do with the gun loaded.
  • The SIG has a firing pin block -- so drops or slams won't cause an accidental discharge. Manually decocking a non-decocker-equipped weapon is a basic gun-handling skill that you should be able to master quickly.
As for the chip: There is stuff that you can apply to alloy frames that will cover the chip. Most gun shops have it. (Cold blue, of course, doesn't work.) Auto body touch up paint might do the job (matte black?) in the little applicator bottle. I've not chipped an alloy-framed SIG yet... https://www.birchwoodcasey.com/Cleaning-and-Maintenance/Cleaning-Maintenance/Super-Black%E2%84%A2-Touch-Up-Pen.aspx

I re-checked "completed items" on gun broker. "sig legend target". returned 3 unique hits. "Sig p210-6" returned 5 unique hits with adjustable sights. "sig P210 target" returned 5 unique hits. Approximately 7 different pistols total with adjustable sights.

It is probably true that there are more P210 legends than 952's, BUT all 952's have adjustable sights, only a few % p210's have adjustable sights.

Actually, quite a few P210's have adjustable sights. I have two of them myself. There are more P210's with adjustable sights than there are 952's. All the Legend Targets and Super Targets have adjustable sights and many of the -6 and -5 models have adjustable sights.

If its a single action only model, what exactly were you expecting? You generally don't decock a single action only pistol. Also, many single action thumb safeties lock the slide, much like the 1911.

If only there was a tool that allowed people to research a product before buying, or possibly a forum of some kind where they could ask questions about these products before making a purchase.

Years and years ago I had a browning hi power with target sights. Man, that was a dream to shoot. Then I became a moron and sold it.

The really good choices in a full size 9mm 1911 are the Springfield Range Officer, the STI Trojan, and the Dan Wesson Pointman 9. I have the Trojan and it is a terrific range gun, I would very highly recommend this one.
