I noticed what appears to be a few 9x18 brass (headstamped 9mmM) mixed in with a bag of 380 range brass. Standing them up and checking with a naked eye, some appear slightly longer than the 380, but some do not.

What would happen if you loaded these as a 380 round? Would they chamber? Would they kaboom?

They wouldn't fit a .380 shell holder to reload them, because the 9x18 case head is .392".

.380 ACP is .374".

Thats the reason that I have more loading trays than normal. It makes sorting and counting cases easier. Lightman

The 9x18 or 9mmM is a 9mm Makarov case. I fires a .365 bullet. Just throw it in you bucket of trash cases.

It's fun when you have a mixed bag of empty 9mm, .380, and Makarov brass (9x19, 9x18, and 9x17). Sometimes I'll shoot all three in one outing. I just stand them all up on end and pick them out by length.

Don't throw the Mak brass away; buy a Makarov instead. :)

Better check those Mak cases first, very possible they're Berdan primed. But maybe not.

FWIW - I sort 9mm Luger, 9mm Mak, and .380 all mixed up frequently....ain't no chore. Just stand them all upright on a flat surface and it's easy to tell them apart. I use tweezers to pluck out the .380's, then the Maks.

15 years ago I worked with a printed wiring board designer that took his girl friend to the range, and let her shoot his Makarov.
The gun blew up in her hand and she was injured. He was using 9mm ammo. I never met her, but saw her pic. She was a cutie, but they were high drama, with domestic disturbances drawing the police. I think he was taking Lithium. That is for people slightly bi polar.

I have been out of town for the weekend and wanted to double check and verify, but I was pretty sure they did fit my shell holder, and they do. I have only been reloading for about 3-4 years so a lot of people have more knowledge in these things than me (esp. RC) so I will show you what I got.

I use a Lee shell holder that came with my die set. It is a #4

The cases have headstamps of S&B 9mmBr.c. Q. if anyone can verify it is a Makarov (9x18 round). In my original post I mistakenly said it was a 9mmM, but it looks like I am wrong and they are 9mmB. My Calipers seem to have a dead battery (will fix that tomorrow) but with the naked eye most seem to be the same length as a 380, but a couple are absolutely longer.

Just to be clear, it is not that I WANT to use them, it is only a handful anyway. I am just a little worried that I may have already accidentally loaded one as a 380. I have about 1500 rounds loaded and I am wondering if I need to double check each one for a 9x18 headstamp. If one did get through then it would have been loaded just like the rest if my 380s (95gr RN lead with 2.9grs bullseye). IF I did load one, will it cause any problems?

Thanks everyone for your help

***edit to add I went through the motions of loading one to see if it would size and seat like a 380. It went through my Lee Classic Turret without any issues

Looks like this is what you have. I've never heard of 9 mm BROWNING COURT, but it appears to be the same as .380. From casing pictures I have seen on other sites of the two, it appears the only difference is the size/bevel angle of the extractor groove.

I can't imagine this causing any problems except for possible FTE/FTF issues depending upon your gun.

Thanks guys. I had a CZ 83 (380) at one time that was roll marked 9mm Browning court on the slide, so this all makes sense
