This is just some pics when I took my mother in law and sister-in-law to the range. This was some of my toys, such as the AR-50, Winchester 94 ranger, Saiga AK and other rifles and handguns you see in the pics as well.

Leaning Back

Did they find it hard to get a good cheek weld when leaning back?

I spent a frustrating half hour with my oldest daughter trying to get a cheek weld going before I noticed she was standing with her feet apart (like an isosceles stance) and leaning back to balance the barrel.

There was a moment there when I had to stop and "look at myself" to see how I actually stand when shooting. Funny, I'd never noticed how I arrange my feet, place my weight, and so on. It's easy to say "just do what I'm doing," but it helps if you can see yourself well enough to compare that to what you're showing someone else.

Nice place to shoot, looks like a good day at the range. Man mother in law and sister in law, I can't even imagine, you my friend are a brave soul.

Safety?

No glasses on any of the shooters (except mother-in-law's scrips)! if you're going to teach people to shoot, best teach them how to be safe as well. That includes eye protection!

I have a the same plinkster. Trying to find a couple more magazines for it. Got mine at the local Dick's for 60.00 last year but they don't have the mags for it.

that must be a comfy cheek weld on the saiga... looks like you took a wittle nap...

I understand... a day with the in-laws can be exhausting...:D

Actually she's 25, I usually don't wear shooting glasses, they tend to interfere with my shooting. Suprisingly I get along very well with my in-laws, I got lucky. Heck my father-in-law and I actually go out bar hoping together on occasion. The Ar-50 was around $2500 we bought it a couple of years back/ But the scope is about the same price as the rifle. And the pick with her eyes closed was taken after she had shot the rifle. She closed her eyes and cursed the recoil.

very good of you take them shooting...... every now and then my spousal unit will go the range with me and shoot her late father's .38 colt det spl.... i load them pretty light for the old herloom revolver....... she dosen't care much to shoot my mod 27 with .357 mag loads...... i bet she would like the new ruger mkII target model i got last fall..... it has never been shot so i want get it out and see with it will do........

LIFE IS SHORT.....

I've noticed that all the women/girls I have ever taken to the range initially use that same damn lean. Drives me nuts trying to teach them to put their weight forward to improve aim and recoil control.

Looks like a good day!

I spent a frustrating half hour with my oldest daughter trying to get a cheek weld going before I noticed she was standing with her feet apart (like an isosceles stance) and leaning back to balance the barrel.

I've found this is common with a lot of new shooters (male and female). I point it out when going over the basics, then give them a verbal reminder, then gently push forward on their back keep them leaning forward.
