Jeffery Hopkins was given a service award by Orange County Florida Sheriff Jerry Demmings, www.ocso.com .
Hopkins, a CCW/W license holder saw a older man being attacked by a guy with a small knife at a public bus stop near downtown Orlando. The gun owner/armed citizen quickly drew his semi auto pistol & detained the felon until EMTs & deputies got on scene. Hopkins was assisted by a ex-firefighter who provided first aid to the older victim.
The attacker was arrested without incident and has several felony charges pending.
Hopkins told the Orlando FL area media he felt he needed to act & encouraged more private citizens to be alert to crime or danger.
The fact that Mr Hopkins used good judgement & handled the critical incident correctly shows that armed citizens(open carry or CCW) can do the right thing when needed.
