Sounds to me like they are a "trans-shipper" They were waiting for the parts to arrive from their supplier. IOW, they don't order the merchandise until they already have it sold and paid for....
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=302162674Auction number please? What is their feedback like?
Paypal allows a lot of firearm related transactions. I am not sure if a lower would ba allowed though.Yep, firearm transactions are against PayPals terms of service. IF they find out, they will close the sellers account, the buyers account, and "suspend" release of the funds for some time (180 days?).
1 or 2 out of 50, or 100? Ya, I might be careful then.I'm a seller on Gunbroker. The feedback is the reportcard. Read any negative feedback there may be for hints to the type of seller they are. If they get less than A's for delivery time then expect a delayed shipment. 100% satisfaction means a lot to me and most sellers. If you buy from someone with more than 1 or 2 negative feedbacks then let the buyer beware.

1 or 2 out of 1,000? I figure that is the "noise" rate and would not concern me at all.
I've noticed a growing number of companies selling things trough the various on-line auction sites don't actually have the items being auctioned in-hand. So, after you win the auction they have to order the item from the true manufacturer or distributor and wait for it to arrive before they can ship it to you. There is nothing inherently unethical in running a buisness this way, but I think they do have a responsibility to inform before you bid if the shipping lag is going to be more than a couple days. I totally agree that 2 weeks is unacceptable in this day and age unless they told you about it beforehand. So, here I am, 15 days later and still no parts kit.
Um... skipping out on a transaction involving a USPS Money Order becomes mail fraud, which is a federal crime and has all sorts of consequenses for the guilty party. Just contact the Post Master of the Post Office where you bought the money order. Its much safer than using a personal check or even a credit card.No kidding. I just bought a CZ52 9mm barrel, and had to get a USPS money order since that was the only acceptable payment. If there was any consequence for online fraud, I wouldn't mind such risky tactics (except they cost more than personal checks), but I'm basically boned if they skip out on the item listed.
Looks like lower parts kits are fine to pay for with paypal unless its a full auto conversion kit. Plenty of LPK's for sale on ebay now
yes paypal is terrible. Their are a few things I am still stuck using them for if I want my custom bullet molds and other such things but for the most part I try not to use them. I had a simple request for them a little over a year ago, that wouldn't have cost them anything, but would have saved me a bunch of money because of a mix up with the bank.... kind of a long story, but they refused, were extremely rude, then when I asked to talk to someone higher up, was told he was the higher up, and then he hung up on me. some of the worst customer service I have ever had.
maybe when they say SORRY, and get customer service. The fact that they are moving more toward pro gun needs to be embraced.

have you READ any of the crap that has come out of ebay/paypal
the DECADE OF HORROR STORIES

they finally find out that they slammed the door on a significant market and have lost HUGE share to amazon and GB, so now they are anti-gun lite....

Too many gun owners take the"you are either for us or against us" stuff too personally. eBay/PayPal were never against us personally they just made decisions based on the legal hot button topic issue that guns are.

That's was my experience...twice.Not anymore. I see this spread on the internet everytime a postal money order would come up, but its simply not true. They wont start an investigation over it, in fact they will tell you that you are out of luck. They simply dont have the time or manpower to worry about such things. The safest way to pay is still a credit card, IMO.
