A Gunbroker deal ain't always a deal!

Sounds to me like they are a "trans-shipper" They were waiting for the parts to arrive from their supplier. IOW, they don't order the merchandise until they already have it sold and paid for....

I just saw your post, and I dealt with these guys before, "bought an M4 from them", they were always pretty responsive. This was a year ago, possiblly they grew too fast, As many of the gun shopes are carrying their AR's now. I would give them the benifit of the doubt. It's interesting that it was a "parts kit", I had asked them if they offered something like that last year, and they directed me to Midway.Several of the big wholsalers are selling their guns now also, they make a nice gun.

Never, ever, use PayPal. They will purge their system of the transaction after 90 days and you will NEVER get anything out of them.

Yep, firearm transactions are against PayPals terms of service. IF they find out, they will close the sellers account, the buyers account, and "suspend" release of the funds for some time (180 days?).
Paypal allows a lot of firearm related transactions. I am not sure if a lower would ba allowed though.

They do allow things like .22 conversion kits, magazines, holsters, gripsframes, sights, ect

I've never had a lick of trouble with gunbroker, knock on wood... I do 3-4 transactions per year and have always been very happy with the folks, the service, and the items won.

I'm a seller on Gunbroker. The feedback is the reportcard. Read any negative feedback there may be for hints to the type of seller they are. If they get less than A's for delivery time then expect a delayed shipment. 100% satisfaction means a lot to me and most sellers. If you buy from someone with more than 1 or 2 negative feedbacks then let the buyer beware.

1 or 2 out of 50, or 100? Ya, I might be careful then.

1 or 2 out of 1,000? I figure that is the "noise" rate and would not concern me at all.

Agree.

When you sell enough, there are some people who cannot be pleased. However, if you see more than 1 or 2 "not as described" I'd be extra cautious. Slow shipping, not answering emails, etc is one thing. Not as descibed is a bad thing, IMO.

So, here I am, 15 days later and still no parts kit.
I've noticed a growing number of companies selling things trough the various on-line auction sites don't actually have the items being auctioned in-hand. So, after you win the auction they have to order the item from the true manufacturer or distributor and wait for it to arrive before they can ship it to you. There is nothing inherently unethical in running a buisness this way, but I think they do have a responsibility to inform before you bid if the shipping lag is going to be more than a couple days. I totally agree that 2 weeks is unacceptable in this day and age unless they told you about it beforehand.

No kidding. I just bought a CZ52 9mm barrel, and had to get a USPS money order since that was the only acceptable payment. If there was any consequence for online fraud, I wouldn't mind such risky tactics (except they cost more than personal checks), but I'm basically boned if they skip out on the item listed.
Um... skipping out on a transaction involving a USPS Money Order becomes mail fraud, which is a federal crime and has all sorts of consequenses for the guilty party. Just contact the Post Master of the Post Office where you bought the money order. Its much safer than using a personal check or even a credit card.

Looks like lower parts kits are fine to pay for with paypal unless its a full auto conversion kit. Plenty of LPK's for sale on ebay now

eBay and Paypal are becoming more and more gun friendly everyday. For some reason a lot of gun owners do not want to embrace HUGE companies making positive changes. The whole idea that you are an anti gun organization because you limit what you sell is pretty strange when you consider what all they do sell/allow. The fact that they are moving more toward pro gun needs to be embraced. It would be a huge plus to have companies like this on our side. They are headed that way

yes paypal is terrible. Their are a few things I am still stuck using them for if I want my custom bullet molds and other such things but for the most part I try not to use them. I had a simple request for them a little over a year ago, that wouldn't have cost them anything, but would have saved me a bunch of money because of a mix up with the bank.... kind of a long story, but they refused, were extremely rude, then when I asked to talk to someone higher up, was told he was the higher up, and then he hung up on me. some of the worst customer service I have ever had.

Wow, just wow!

have you READ any of the crap that has come out of ebay/paypal
the DECADE OF HORROR STORIES

really
really

they finally find out that they slammed the door on a significant market and have lost HUGE share to amazon and GB, so now they are anti-gun lite....

maybe when they say SORRY, and get customer service.

I have never had an issue with customer service but if they have problems there that is a legit claim. As far as being anti gun light, well IMHO anti gun people are, well against guns and proactively fight against our rights. To think eBay/PayPal officers are setting at their desk wanting to crush the 2A is absurd. They make business decisions pure and simple. The motives are profit. They don't love or hate the 2A, they are indifferent. To win the battle we are fighting we need to get the people that are indifferent on our side. I never expect them to be at their desk dreaming up ways to help our cause, but if we can show them how strong of a market we are they will continue to change their policy in our favor. That will lead to more people exposed to shooting and how can that be a bad thing?

Too many gun owners take the"you are either for us or against us" stuff too personally. eBay/PayPal were never against us personally they just made decisions based on the legal hot button topic issue that guns are.

If we continue to hold unwarranted grudges then all we will do is push guns sells back into harder to reach avenues. Limiting its exposure and potential new shooters. How can that possibly be a good thing

Save the anti gun stuff for the people that are truly anti gun

have your read what the management thinks, the excuse was 'legal issues'
as for PAYPAL (they are hand in hand)
that place, it's all the dark slimy stuff that the banking industry has been accused of, and well, I'll pass, thank you very much.

Not anymore. I see this spread on the internet everytime a postal money order would come up, but its simply not true. They wont start an investigation over it, in fact they will tell you that you are out of luck. They simply dont have the time or manpower to worry about such things. The safest way to pay is still a credit card, IMO.
