INDIANA: House Bill 1176, sponsored by Representative Troy Woodruff (R-64), a bill that allows for an option of a 4-year carry permit, or a lifetime carry permit for a higher fee, has passed the House. This bill will now be heard by the Senate Committee for Corrections, Criminal, and Civil Matters, on Tuesday, February 14, at 9:00 a.m. Please contact your State Senator at (317) 232-9400 and ask him or her to support HB 1176.

I hope Colorado does that, not that the fee's are to bad but I see it as just another tax. Oh well.

AFS, thanks to our good friends at the Indiana State Po-po, we are now subject to background hassles even with the LTCH. The BATmen ruled several years ago that the state po-po were not doing that good of a hassle.

NICS CHECK

LTCH in Massachusetts hasn't stopped the NICS check. It's supposed to eliminate the waiting period also,but it hasn't for me. Seems every time I buy something I get delayed. Must be that I have a criminal sounding last name. Ah the curse of being a handsome Italian

So don't do it. Carry a copy of the Second Amendment with you at all times. If you are arrested anywhere for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit show the Second Amendment to the police and tell them "Here is my authorization. Unhand me immediately."

Something getting snuck into the carry bill.

Some extras in the bill allong with all the money dispersment requirements include this little gem. HB1176 and SB054 include this.

Repeals provisions: (1) relating to an audit of the destruction of handgun purchase records by the attorney general;
That affects this section of the state law.
IC 4-6-3-12
Compliance inspections into destruction of handgun purchase records
Sec. 12. (a) Upon receipt of a complaint that records of handgun purchases are not being timely destroyed as required by IC 35-47-2.5-8, the attorney general shall conduct a compliance inspection to substantiate compliance.
(b) The attorney general shall report the findings of inspections made under this subsection to the governor and to the presiding officer of each house of the general assembly.

depends on what state you're in. here in Fla we get checked. there's just no waiting period if you're a CCW.
Problem is the renewal period. If it's like a 2 year renewal there's no check. If it's a long period like 4 years there is a check.

Not in Texas, if you have a current CHL, you don't have to do the NICS check. Texas' background check for the CHL is apparently as good as/better than the NICS check. The FFL just writes down your CHL info on the 4473 instead of the NICS approval info.

In Indiana, you are usually not delayed when buying a gun if you have a carry permit, but the usual "instant check" is required. If something comes up on that, you might be delayed or denied. Hasn't happened to me so far.

Looks like the "lifetime permit" might put holders under the waiting period again, so that's not so good. The prospect of renewing over the Internet seems like a better deal.
