So I was doing inventory on my reloading stuff and I ran across a box of about 250 of these little guys.

.357 in diameter, 180 grain, jacketed flat point.

I want to load them up to shoot out of my dan wesson 357, but am not having much luck finding mininum and maximum load data, or recommended OAL.

Powders I have to use are Alliant Unique, Red Dot and 2400.

Can anyone help me out here please.

Hello Fred,

Thank you for the link, but none of that data is for the powders I have which are all Alliant powders.

The Lyman Reloading manual has loads for the 180 gr. jacketed bullets. You'll be able to find them there.

Hope this helps.

Lyman #49 edition
Looks like you have a load for 2400 anyway.
Pressure rises pretty dramatically here with that heavy bullet. Careful!
Pretty slow mover at starting loads with 2400.

I have a One Book that lists data from different manuals. Sierra for 180 gr FPJ. Does not list pressure. COAL 1.585 in.
Unique - 5.2 for 800 and 6.6 for 1,000 fps
2400 - 10.1 for 950 and 11.5 for 1,050 -- similar to Lyman but showing lower velocity. Test gun was Colt Trooper 6 inch barrel for Sierra.

I have no experience with these loads so as has been previously stated, start low and watch for high pressure signs.

Seat them so you can roll crimp into the cannelure, that will be the correct OAL using that bullet.
or recommended OAL.
Seat them so you can roll crimp the case mouth into the cannelure, that will be the correct OAL for that bullet. Of the powders you have, I would think 2400 is the best suited for that heavy bullet in .357.
