44 henry,

I like that Penny folder. I wonder what a 1770's penny works out to in 2014 dollars?

Lot of nice knives on here of late.

Sam's stuff is coming along great!

Thanks for the looks, have a great day!

Only posting a few for right now... I've gotten rid of all my boom sticks so I'm relegated to sharp and shiny.

The T.M.Hunt Hatchet/Hawk/Ax... never sure what to call it.

Razor

Here's a picture of a work in progress - a straight razor patterned after a tutorial by Charlie Lewis.
It needs scales, some additional grinding and final polishing.
It was forged by me from a piece of 1080 steel.

52100 steel

I forged this knife out of a large roller bearing and it’s 52100 steel. I triple quenched it in worm oil, tempered it at 425 F two times for 60 minutes then a soft back draw with an oxygen/acetylene torch. After that, one more temper at 425F for 60 minutes. The handle is leather and the guard and pommel are brass. The blade is 7” from the guard to the tip and the back is 3/16” thick at the guard.

hos, Thanks for the compliment. To forge large 52100 ball bearings, you need a hard hitting air hammer. I have a 75lb kinyon air hammer with a 10” stroke which makes forging this steel a lot easier. 52100 needs to be forged hot to 2000 degrees. Don’t try to forge it below 1800f. I have had good luck hot rolling 52100 into knife blanks after it’s been hammered into a workable size but it still needs to be hot.

I made this kitchen knife out of band saw steel 15n20. The wood handle is a mystery. I salvaged it from a logging mill steam condensing building. It is a hardwood that is impervious to water.

I keep coming back over and over to look at this one, *sigh* I guess you better give me his contact info! ;)
He is on Bladeforums, his name on there is Daizee. He does his shop a little different. He makes what he feels like and then puts it up for sale. His full time gig though has him away from the shop, A LOT. So it takes a while for him to put out new stuff.

May I introduce Mr. Southard!:

Spyderco knocked out of the park with this blade. I'm so glad I finally got one, it's been a grail for me.

nope it's the spider that Spyderco uses, although on this one it's like almost a leafing type finish, it really pops and is almost 3d.

I don't make them very often anymore but here is one I hammered out of a leaf spring off a jeep. Its an experimental attempt at a hunting/bushcraft type knife. Extended tang is for scraping a ferro rod or light pounding.

Here are a few that I have collected over the years. Many of the Case knives are new and in the original box. I also have duplicates of many of the Camillus and Case knives.

This is one I made and use as my everyday hunter.

I found this one at a yard sale.

This one was made by Gaetan Beauchamp. The handles are made of fossilized walrus ivory.
