A "what if" for you CCW guys and gals

If I'm in a gunfight and get killed,I want no one to blame but myself.....1st rule in a gunfight....have a gun....2nd rule..never give up your gun..... ;)

I'm with everyone else here: My gun will be in MY hands!

I may not be an expert shot, but I know I can stop a lethal threat to my life. I know my mindset, too. I know that if someone is trying to kill/seriously injure me, I'm not going to hesitate or second-guess. I'm going to take action, and I'm going to do it NOW!

Will my friend have the same mindset? He may say he does, but I'm not him, and I'm going to trust what's in my head rather than trying to guess someone else's probable actions.

Also, why DOESN'T he have his own gun with him? When I'm at the range, whether alone or with someone else, there's always one on my hip while the other is being shot (.38 carried while practicing with the .45, and vice versa).

Just seems like plain ol' common sense to me.

I actually had this happen, in a way. My best friend from Arizona was in town for a visit. Before Ohio had its CCW laws in place, so there was no such thing as reciprosity. Anyways, while we were out for the day, I carried my own gun (on my badge), and backed it up with his Smith Model 19 in a fanny pack that I carried over my shoulder out of the car, and had on the floor between us in the car. Plan was to hand him the pack at the first sign of trouble, first bad feelings, etc. No, we didn't have any problems, but we both felt good about the plan.

You guys are way too stingy.

Correia: Uh oh, looks like trouble.
Friend: Oh no. Forgot my gun.
Correia: Here take mine. I'll, uhm... go for help or something. See ya.
Friend: Hey, wait a second...
Massive gunfight erupts. Correia runs away.

And some of you are too proud.

Super Master Class ultimate shooting champion who just got back from his 2 year tour with Army SF in Iraq: Oh no, my gun is broken. Looks like trouble. Bummer, as I shoot 275,000 rounds a year in practice and get paid millions of dollars because I'm so good.
Correia: Here take mine. I'll hide behind this heavy stuff and watch.

I'm a practical man. Share the love. :)

Even if I was walking down the street with the latest IPSC or IDPA Grand Champion, "If you didn't bring your own gun, I hope you got fast running shoes on". I care about my safety. If your are dumb enough not to wear a seatbelt, carry a jack and a spare tire, carry you own handgun and spare ammo then it's your funeral not mine.

I might think about it if the range was >800 m, It was a rifle we are talking about, and the friends name was Carlos Hathcock
Then again, I might make him spot.

If it were strictly the senerio you put forth, I would simply leave.
