Hey guys,

I recently jumped on the release of the Magpul PRS Lite for my DPMS Gen-1 pattern AR-10 I built in .243. It arrives (after some FedEx shennanigans) and I find out this one needs an A5/SR-25 buffer tube. Annoying, but no big deal, I'll just order one from Magpul. However comma

It took a little bit of doing to match up the correct spring for my .243. Can I run the same spring and buffer in the different tube? I just don't want to start swallowing the spider to catch the fly here.

thanks

It should work just fine.

well, if you have the wrong buffer length in there it wont cycle all the way back or it may go too far back. Should be able to visual check that with hand cycle. I thought the A5 tube required special buffer, but been awhile since I was chasing down a stock for mine. I ended up with a Vltor tube.

The "A5" receiver extension was designed to allow the longer 308 class BCG to work with carbine buffers.

The A5 buffers were designed to allow the "A5" REs to be used in 5.56 class ARs.

You need to use a carbine buffer with the "A5" RE in your 243 Winchester AR.
