I picked up a pound of this to play with, wondering if anyone likes it. If so for what and what bullet weight.

I've had pretty good results with it in 7.62x54R with Speer Hot-Cor 150s. It wasn't my most accurate load, but acceptable for my intended use. I'm only looking for Minute of Elk Vitals currently.

It did EXTREMELY well in 5.56 with 75 gr Hor BTHPs. My best load to date in that rifle, surpassing my long-time Varget match load..
Did very well in 7.62x54R with 123gr Vmax. About as good as any load I've tried in that rifle.
My M1 Garand hated it. Could not even equal Greek M2 ball accuracy.

I also think, regardless of what the burning rate charts say, this one is faster than IMR4895, and closer to IMR 3031. The charges/velocities/applications of known data seem to support such a qualitative conclusion. For me so far, it likes a relatively high load density and/or pressure. Haven't worked with it extensively, just the 3 applications above. It meters better than the IMR types.

Thanks. I just started loading for a AR in 223 Rem/.556x45 w/a 16" 1:8 5R barrel and a Wylde chamber. For now I'm trying some Nosler 69gr CC and RMR 69gr bthp with Varget and 2495 still working on these loads.
I've had very good results with IMR 8208 for 30-30 Win with 150gr jacketed, I may try this 2495 in that.
Varget has done well me in .308 Win. with 150gr jacketed, but I have some 110 and 125 Nosler jacketed I would like to try with this new to me 2495.
My only concern is if come to like it I may not see it again :cuss:

I've never tried AA 2495 in anything, mostly because I've never really seen that many Accurate powders around here. Just based on the burn-rate charts and experience with other powders, it should work very well in the 3 cartridge/bullet weight combinations you've listed.

As for your 69 grain bullets and .223 Remington with Varget, try the Nosler 69 grain Custom Competitions with 25.0 grains of Varget, a CCI-BR4 or Remington 7 1/2 primer, seat the whole mess at mag-length of 2.25"-2.26" OAL in a Lake City case, and go shoot. I've used this load in 4 different 20" AR-15 match barrels, a 16" 1-7" chrome-line Colt 6920 and a CZ527FS with a 20" 1-9" barrel. If it won't shoot well, the issue is your barrel, not the ammo. I don't normally quote exact loads online because every rifle is different, but this is one of those standard loads that almost all of us shooting AR-15 Service Rifles had tried or were using. Be warned this is max or near max depending on your manual and your cases. Some folks would drop to 24.5 grains of Varget if they were using heavier cases with lower capacity.
