I have been offered $275 for a broken Springfield bolt action 410 and my marlin 60 (my main beat around gun) I paid 50 for the 410 and 120 for the marlin.

Would you guys sell?
If I do what should I get for my next beater 22?
I don't want to spend more than I get for the pair, want something accurate. Open to any action besides single shot.

My recommendation, based upon my experience, would be a Savage Mk II FVSR. Mine has functioned flawlessly and is my primary suppressor host (SR = suppressor ready). Sight mounting options abound, and you are looking at less than $250. I don't know if my Swamp People gator hide model is still available, but they do have camo options as well as basic black.

I have heard those savages are accurate. What kinda groups are you getting

Anyone have a Winchester xpert? They seem good but I don't know anyone with one.

Set an accuracy goal in diameter, distance, number of shots and a maximum dollar amount.

If your 60 does what you want, stop. No need to go further than “already there”.

I ran a side by side test with 3 common budget semiautos and didn’t find much difference. Any one of them (with ammunition they liked) would shoot better that the others (with ammunition they didn’t prefer).

I think the OP's wife somehow hacked your account, you might want to check into that......this borders on the un american.

But really......
If you like the 60 keep it, I have a fondness of them likely because they are not a 10-22, nothing wrong with a ruger I just shy away from the things that everyone has, I love the Ruger ad for the 1022, be original....by buying somehting that everyone has at least 2 of....yea right.

The other thing you need to think of is will there ever be another model 60 built. I highly doubt ruger is real hot to put out something that will go against their cash cow. So I think the pickings are going to get slimmer and slimmer, and the prices are going to go up and up.

Makes me think I should have bought that stainless version I looked at so many times years ago....now I am out of luck.

I am running under a new rule if the bobble I am looking at is under the floor of my "no money" limit I am just going to buy the stupid thing and enjoy. Always thought those stainless rifles looked good.

The 410 is not worth more than 100, so that would leave 175 for the 60, Which just seems like a ton for that. I think that if I start to miss the 60 I could buy another for less but idk.
The next 22 could very easily be a used gun, so even if they don't make them anymore please share. I usually prefer used over new anyways.
My limits: $275, 1 inch group at 50-75

Any of the Savage MKII rifles will do better than 1" at 50 yards. I've had 5 of them, and every single one shot very close to 1/2" with bulk ammo and a cheap scope. 2 heavy barrel, 3 Sporters (of which 2 were Walmart specials that you can buy brand new for about $160 when in stock) I never shot really good ammo in them, but I'm sure 1/2" consistently wouldn't be a stretch.

Depending on condition and when your model 60 was made, you may not be able to replace it for $175. The older, JM marked ones are for some absurd reason up over $200 now.

Personally, I wouldn't trade a bone stock model 60 even up for a bone stock 10-22 other than to flip it. Every model 60 I've ever owned shot very respectably out of the gate. I've never owned a 10-22 that was in the same class accuracy wise until I'd put another $200-$300 into barrel, trigger job, etc...

I’ve never sold a gun but if I sold 2 I would have to buy 3.

Henry h001. Used CZ 452. Used RUGER 77-22. 10-22. Depends on the action type.

But most 22 shoot about the same when fed the crap that most people want to shoot in them. Unlikely anything will show much improvement over the 60 with 500 rd bulk ammo.

If you can't find a CZ in that range I would buy a Savage bolt action. That would be an accuracy upgrade. Or you could buy a newer Model 60 or 10/22. A Ruger American would probably be an upgrade too.

I agree with you about the 60 vs 10/22. What is a jm marked one?

We had a prove it thread a few years ago. I sincerely doubt every Savage MKll rifle does 1/2 inch at 50 yards with bulk ammo every time. The many that I shot against in matches would not do that. I would like to see it in person.
